I'm sorry I've been silent of late on the blog, everyone. June is always a busy month for us teachers. But exams have been marked, graduation has passed and us teachers are now fully enjoying our summer vacation!
Occupying my thoughts the last few weeks has definitely been the news about the City of Ottawa's proposal to close down the Nepean National Equestrian Park. The NNEP has been my second home since I was 12 years old. It's looking very much like the city councillors will vote to shut it down by the end of this year. We weren't given much warning and our fight to keep it as a city-run facility seems to be falling on deaf ears. If you haven't yet heard much about this ordeal, have a read of the various articles available on the subject. The final vote is to happen this Wednesday. I am thinking I'd like to do a photo essay about the park. I'm not sure it will help save the place, but perhaps it will at least serve as a great memory for us all? Keep your eyes on the blog for that then!
