Oh my. Life has gotten in the way of updating this blog lately. It's been a very busy time and I'm sorry I haven't kept up with my blog a little better. Let me make it up to you . . . here's a little post of some recent photos that celebrate the winter season that has arrived!
All summer long I've been meaning to go down to Parliament Hill in order to photograph the famous changing of the guard. As it turns out, today was the last performance for this year. I'm thrilled that I had a beautiful, sunny day to get some shots! A classic Ottawa & Canadian event.

I've spent the last two evenings at the annual Sunset Ceremonies & RCMP Musical Ride. Here's a teaser shot until I can get the rest of the photos processed.
I was lucky to be offered the chance to accompany a group of my school's students on their last outdoor education trip of the school year; a canoe & camping trip. We spent 5 days paddling & portaging the lakes of the Parc régional du Poisson Blanc about an hour north of Ottawa. What a great time!
This time of year, March-ish, when most Canadians are sick and tired of winter, and we start to see little glimpses of warmer spring weather from time to time, is known for a certain yearly contest. Tim Hortons, the very Canadian coffee & donut shop, runs the Roll up the Rim to Win contest each year. Many a person's Facebook status gives updates as to their total prizes won compared to the number of cups bought. Many of us, myself included, lament the few number of times we seem to win compared to the 1 in 6 odds that are promised. And yet we continue to buy in hopes of winning the car or big money. Instead we wind up with a couple of free coffees & donuts. So I wanted to share my excitement with you at having won twice in the last two days ... after probably 15 cups of coffee (at least) over the last few weeks. Worth it? ... Probably not. But we all do it!
