I haven't been very good this summer about posting photos of the SPCA dogs that are up for adoption here in Gatineau. So let's start the new school year off on the right foot & look through a few really cute dog photos . . . and one cat. All of these animals are looking for their forever home; contact http://www.spca-outaouais.org/photo.aspx?gallery_id=54&Lang=f

Summer is the time for horse shows and I've been busy at a variety of shows lately.
Mid-July we had the Dressage at the Park show which was a bit bitter sweet as the future of the show is uncertain with the closure of the Nepean National Equestrian Park as a city facility this fall. At the end of July I went out to Huntingford Farm - a beautiful spot - for their hunter/jumper weekend. Tomorrow I will be at Dewmont for their one day hunter/jumper show. Click on the "horse show" tab for a list of albums of shows photographed & those upcoming. I am very excited to share with you my latest commercial photography via the website for local Ottawa business, the Mud Oven; http://mudoven.com/. The Mud Oven hosted my very first art show displaying my photographs at the end of last summer. About two months ago now, I spent an afternoon with Sarah and Katie, the two funky and friendly co-owners of the Mud Oven, and took all sorts of photographs for their website redesign. Katie has done an absolutely amazing job updating their website, so please take a look. I hope you enjoy the photographs you find there. And perhaps you'll even stop in to visit the store and paint your own ceramic creation this summer!
I'm sorry I've been silent of late on the blog, everyone. June is always a busy month for us teachers. But exams have been marked, graduation has passed and us teachers are now fully enjoying our summer vacation!
Occupying my thoughts the last few weeks has definitely been the news about the City of Ottawa's proposal to close down the Nepean National Equestrian Park. The NNEP has been my second home since I was 12 years old. It's looking very much like the city councillors will vote to shut it down by the end of this year. We weren't given much warning and our fight to keep it as a city-run facility seems to be falling on deaf ears. If you haven't yet heard much about this ordeal, have a read of the various articles available on the subject. The final vote is to happen this Wednesday. I am thinking I'd like to do a photo essay about the park. I'm not sure it will help save the place, but perhaps it will at least serve as a great memory for us all? Keep your eyes on the blog for that then! ! I hope you are enjoying the beginning of what promises to be a sunny, dry summer Babies are so beautiful! My step-sister is in town with her beautiful baby girl and so of course I took full advantage to get some photos of little baby J!
The Horse Show season is upon us! I have spent the last two weekends at the Nepean National Equestrian Park (NNEP) photographing dressage & x-country. I will be at other shows this summer too, so keep an eye on my website for those dates.
This week at the SPCA de l'Outaouais I took photos of both the dogs and the cats ready for adoption!
I had the opportunity to accompany a group of kids from my old high school down to New York City where they were performing & visiting over Easter weekend. It was my first visit ever to the Big Apple & it did not disappoint.
It was a bit windy this afternoon but I definitely enjoyed the sun and relative warmth for taking photos of the various new dogs and cats ready for adoption at the SPCA de l'Outaouais.
For more photos and the animals' ID #s check out my facebook album: A while back I bought the Olloclip 3-lens system for my iPhone. There is a wide angle, fish eye, and macro lens that can clip on to your iPhone's camera lens. I've also been getting into the Instagram app lately. I'm following Teresa, an Instagrammer from San Diego, and have been oohing and aahing over her amazing macro photographs that she takes with her iPhone & Olloclip.
So with the arrival of spring like weather and the appearance of a variety of flowers in the garden, I've been making a point to try my hand at some iPhone photos with the Olloclip macro lens. With the exception of the last 3 in this set, I used the macro lens to capture water droplets, budding flowers, and some mosses. Let me know what you think in the comments: |
